Transcendence

Scott, Leon Deo

Merchant of Magic Ltd (V)

(Based on 1 review)
Transcendence is a super visual coin across that happens in the spectators open palm with no cover. That is right! No cover, the extra coin just pops into view with no explanation as to where it came from! This has to be seen to be believed!

A coin is placed on the open palm of a spectator and another coin is used to demonstrate the fact that the coin can jump up and down through the spectator's other hand. Having demonstrated this the coin is then vanished and it visually reappears on the spectator's hand that is holding the original coin.

This has been a holy grail of coin magic for a long time, to be able to make a coin visually appear with no cover on a spectator's hand and Leon Deo Scott has developed a solution that is not only amazingly visual, easy to do and simple to set up but resets instantly and can be performed again at a moments notice.

Transcedence transcends the barriers of regular coin magic, whether you are a working professional or an amateur you will find yourself not only having great fun performing this effect but you will find it simply stuns people into mouth gaping silence as it looks like pure magic. After all if you really could make a coin jump from hand to hand wouldn't you do it with no cover and in full view? Easy to do Resets in seconds Immediately repeatable Super visual Can be performed in the hands Perfect for walk around and street magic conditions.

Running Time Approximately: 32min

Let me start by saying something nice: I think the effect has the potential to be really amazing. A single coin in a person's hand instantly turns into two coins. Cool.

Beyond that, the only thing this DVD has transcended is my patience.

I can't even call this a One-Trick DVD because I'm not sure there's a complete trick in there. The demonstration videos show a "routine" consisting of several moves leading up to the final production mentioned above. The problem is that there's no pause in the action for anyone to actually recognize that magic is happening.

I suppose my biggest problem with the effect is that I suspect none of you would ever do it. The setup, alone, would be too much for most magicians. If you can get past that, you're going to need some serious cohones to perform it.

I know I bitch now and then about all of the flashy menus and animations on so many magic DVDs these days. At least they have menus. This DVD is one clip, straight through. No menu. No break. No navigation. And I’m not sure what they used for a background and lighting, but the final picture worse than my web cam and desk lamp. Thankfully, my friends kicked my ass about that and I've gotten much better. If only someone had stepped up and done the same for this DVD.

For $30, I guess I just wanted more. A lot more.

Maybe someone will prove me wrong. I suppose if you slowed down, built it into a real routine and had the guts to use the method, it could be a real stunner. I think it's that hope that's kept me from giving it the lowest rating I could.
