Ten

"Did you know that card tricks are rated on a scale from 1-10? This next trick was rated a 10 by the Magicians Association of America!!"

Two jokers are placed in the spectator's hand and two jokers are kept in the magician's hand. The magician touches his jokers to the spectator's and claims that they have changed places. "Okay, you are probably wondering why this trick was rated a ten?" The spectator and the magician turn their cards over at the same time revealing that all the cards have changed into four tens!

  • A super practical miracle you can carry in your pocket or wallet!
  • It's super easy to perform!
  • Easy rest for table hopping!
  • The four cards never leave the spectator's sight!
  • Only 4 cards used...no deck to carry!

Overview

Ten by Richard Sanders will get you five, a high five that is. Ten is a quick and simple packet trick that will extricate you from the “hey, can you do a magic trick for us” situation. Ten is easy to do, short blip of magic that still has the essence of a routine. Unlike many street magic tricks that go by in a flash, Ten has a little meat on the bone. You can perform it as expeditiously as you want or take your time depending on your mood.

Effect

You show a spectator(s) four jokers. Two are placed in their hand and two in yours. Faster than you can say “Bob’s your uncle” (learned that from watching our friends from across the pond) the four jokers turn into four tens.

Method

The method revolves around two factors, one is a gimmicked card and the other is a well-known method of showing two cards as one. There is very little sleight of hand. There are only a few cards in play and the most difficult move is a double lift. The rest of the handling is basic displays

Product Quality

The cards are Bicycle cards so there are no issues there. The instructions are written instructions and although they are primarily clear but there are no actual sleight instructions which would necessitate those who are not familiar with them to search elsewhere for the information.

Ad Copy Integrity

As brief of an ad copy that it is, the ad copy is almost accurate. From the perspective of the spectator it seems only four cards are used, however from the other side of the packet trick that is not so. As far as the rest of the claims, they are certainly accurate

Final Thoughts

My nature is to be a minimalist. I would rather carry less and utilize each item more frequently. If one were to be bold enough, being that you are dirty with the gimmicked card, I cannot see why you can’t go from performing Ten, then onto Twisting the Aces (obviously using the tens at hand) and finish with Doc Daley’s Last Trick. Just a thought on how to get more bang for the buck.
