Tension

Mark Mason

JB Magic

(Based on 1 review)
Four 10's are removed from the deck, they are placed out in a row and any 3 indifferent cards are put on each 10. There really are four cards in each pile and no double back or double faced cards. Pick up pile number one show the 10H and 3 cards. It's difficult to explain this next sequence but you simply close the spread and then re-spread the cards and the 10H has gone. There are no false counts, double cards, glue, rough and smooth etc. Pick up pile two there are only four cards, in this pile are the 10S and amazingly the 10H. Once again both 10's visually vanish and three 10's appear in the third pile. Finally all three 10's vanish from pile three and arrive in pile four. All four tens can be examined. There is no sleight of hand. You will love the simplicity of TENSION.

Comes complete with instruction sheet and specially printed Bicycle cards.

This effect, is an assembly using tens as opposed to aces. The cards are laid out in a straight horizontal row, with the tens all winding up in the right hand pile. I consider why this effect was even put out-as it can be performed with a regular deck, or, with other gaff cards on the market. What this version has to offer, is similar to Bros. John Hamman's 'Final Aces'-you can show the ten in each pile, and likewise show how they vanish, and start to add up as you move toward the final pile. The Marlo way to do this, involves sleights-and JB's gaffs give the same effect, with much less effort. It's highly visual, and a bit more effective perhaps than the gaffs used in ' A Dream of Aces'. I'd say that the transitions here are closer to Bob Kohler's 'Aces in their Faces'. Clean, and impossible. Tension however doesn't have additional phases the way Kohler's routine does. What originally caught my eye about this trick was that the viewer got to see the tens starting to accumuatively take over each pile.
It's a solid trick-but had it never been put out, there are already some killer assemblys out there. I consider this quite effective, but not a 'must have'-especially not if you have one or more of the other routines I've just mentioned here.
