The Magician borrows two playing cards. He rips out their centers and magically makes them link before the spectator's eyes.
The cards are separated and the audience is allowed to examine the cards in the middle of the effect. The magician then causes the cards to link again! The cards are separated one final time, and given away.

Inspired by David Copperfield’s performance of Paul Harris’s “Immaculate Connection” on national television, Andrew Mayne set out to create his own linking-card routine that would satisfy three conditions:
“I wanted to be able to borrow two cards, prepare them in front of the audience and perform the effect without any add-ons or special gimmicks... The effect had to look simple... I wanted the cards to be able to be examined.”
Thus the trick had to be impromptu, clear, and examinable at the conclusion... Which pretty much describes Paul Harris’s “Immaculate Connection.”
However, Andrew has devised a clever two-card method (Harris’s routine of course uses three cards) that looks quite convincing, especially given the fact that the cards are never actually linked.
I don’t see this as either an improvement over or an alternative to Paul Harris’s routine (which will likely always remain the benchmark in the genre), but it would certainly be a strong second or third phase during “Immaculate Connection.” If that’s worth fifteen bucks to you, then by all means go for it.
