Ghost Bills

Andrew Mayne

(Based on 3 reviews)
Andrew Mayne presents an incredible visual close-up illusion that can be performed anytime using two borrowed bills.

Phase One:
The magician borrows two bills from a spectator. The bills are folded, and one bill is placed inside of the other. The bills are then caused to visually pass through one another.

Phase Two:
One bill is placed on top of the other bill. The bill on the bottom jumps to
the middle of the folded bill on top.

Phase Three:
The spectator holds on to the ends of a folded bill, with the other bill cradled inside. The magician pulls the bill through the spectator’s bill, just inches in front of their eyes.

* Everything can be inspected
* The bills are borrowed
* Use any denomination of bills
* The effect can be performed surrounded
* You end totally clean - with no gimmicks to hide

Andrew Mayne's Ghost Bills is a great impromptu effect. It is super visual and a real fooler. I have performed this effect hundreds of times for both laymen and magicians and it always gets great reactions.

Magic that is done entirely with borrowed objects is always stronger and with an effect like this it is truly astounding. You also can end the effect with them holding the bill as it makes the last pass. It just looks so good the way the bills pass right through each other. Andrew even teaches a way that you can perform it completely surrounded.

I highly recommend Andrew Mayne's Ghost Bills to any close-up performer. You will not be disappointed.

Andrew Mayne has devised a clever, impromptu method for causing one bill, folded along its length, to penetrate another, similarly folded bill. This method was also arrived at by Japan’s Ryu Susato, and published in the Spring, 1996 issue of Richard Kaufman’s The Looking Glass. Mr. Mayne is apparently unaware of this precedent, as Mr. Susato goes uncredited on the DVD, but my feeling is that, regardless, “Ghost Bills” is sufficiently different to warrant release.

The routine is fairly easy to execute and all three phases look quite magical. I also like the presentational framework about money being a “concept,” and concepts not existing in the real world – only in our minds.

If the effect interests you, there’s no reason not to buy this.

In a long line of penetration effects the spirit of ghost bills is right there with them. (Lame pun yes. Bear with me) Two dollar bills are shown to pass thru each other in various ways right in front of people's eyes. The best part about this effect is something that any other magical effect could take a lesson from.

It's visual AND impromptu. It can be done anytime anywhere with anything that resembles paper currency. Nothing added, taken away, ripped, switched, etc. For all of the low tech stuff Mayne has produced this is THE best item he has put out.

Did I metion inexpensive? 15 bucks for a DVD!? Un-heard of. So for your money, time, and ease this is a recommended purcahse for yer holiday shopping list.

If you want visual magic, easy enuff to do, and something that you can scam two dollars out of someone's pocket that they might give you, what more do you need?
