Overview

A deck switch in the middle of a performance can be an effective tool. Entire books have been written about deck switches but like palming a card it the move strikes fear in most performers. A deck switch can be made using sleight of hand or utilizing a mechanical device. Obviously, the second method is much easier and various devices have been developed to accomplish this one task. Deck Switcher is a device developed by Vernet Magic to perform a deck switch during a routine.

Effect

Deck Switcher allows you to switch decks without raising suspicion. For example, you can switch a regular card deck used for performing a handful of tricks for a stacked or memorized deck in full view of the audience. All kinds of combinations are possible. The nice thing about Deck Switcher is that you can customize it for any style of poker sized cards or use silks, bills and coins. The possibilities are endless.

Method

The Deck Switcher is similar to a Himber style wallet. There are two sides to the case and with some very basic handling techniques you can effortlessly and subtly switch one deck for another.

Product Quality

The case is a plastic case with thin vinyl covers. It is utilitarian at best. Its appearance is reminiscent of cheap VCR cases that used to be used to store the cassettes in. A higher quality version would be more appealing to me. The instructions are a small pamphlet which weighs in at 17 pages. The pamphlet is 3½” x 4½” with very small type which is not the easiest to read. The instructions cover basic handling of the case to possible routines. Fantasio and Greg Arce contribute a few possible suggestions for its use.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy itself consists of no claims whatsoever but you can switch decks imperceptivity. I would imagine if properly handled that would be the case.
