I've been a long-time fan of Eugene Burger's presentation of 3-card monte. To me, it's not so much about the trick as it is the story. Most people (at least in the US) are familiar with the street con. They have a preconceived notion of how it looks and is supposed to work. I think deviating too far from that is likely to be a waste of time.

However, I have to be honest in saying that I was completely fooled when I saw Bill Malone do Michael Skinner's Ultimate 3 Card Monte. It was simply a stunning effect, regardless of the story. I think this has some merit.

I'm not here to debate whether Skinner's version is better than Daryl's (or vice versa, as the case may be). But I can say that Daryl's version is extremely clean, deceptive, and easy to learn.

I'll personally always side with the more "traditional" versions, but if you want a simple, stunning 3-card monte routine, Daryl's is certainly worth the price.
