Mark Mason and JB Magic

J B Magic

(Based on 3 reviews)
Explain that you went to the casino to play blackjack the other night. Show TWO cards they are the two black nines. Square up the cards and then re-spread them, the same TWO cards are now the two red tens. The next sequence you really need to see to believe. Without any cover the 10 of diamonds visually turns into a black ace, this ace (no switch) is handed out to the spectator. The killer is you now turn the one remaining card face up it is a BLACK JACK this is casually tossed to the table. Six changes from two cards.

One of JB's best ever selling tricks!

Instructional DVD includes extra handling and 4 bonus endings.

Precision made gimmick that does all the work. Easy to perform and easy to carry. The backs and fronts are shown on every change. Very easy to do. No sleights of any kind.

Well I watched the video clip on this effect several times and I was intriged by it since I do occasionally play Blackjack. I like the effect however you can't end clean and you would not be able to let an audience member get ahold of the cards. The other part is that you must hold the cards face to face and cannot show them cleanly one in each hand until the end, but the adcopy said you cleanly show the cards front and back after each change, not quite. Also it may have been better if Mr.Mason made these with actual casino cards rather than plain Bicycles. Maybe with some good scripting all of the actions could be justified.

Yes, the idea is nice, the effect is good but that's about it. The effect requires a close up situation, could even say, the closer the better. But the gimmick is somewhat bulky and, at least, my version, did not handle as well as it could have. I believe I gave it away for free. I saw no possibilities in actually showing it to anyone.

I am a fan of most of Mark Mason's effects, including this one! The effect is simple and staightforward. My only complaint is that the gimmick is a little difficult to replace if broken. Other than that, it's a great "quickie" effect to have in your pocket.
