If you've ever dreamed of a private session with Eugene Burger, now's your chance. On this tape it's just the two of you, as Eugene speaks his mind and opens up his heart. Sinology, a simple coin routine, becomes a parable about self-discovery. In his version of Lin Searles' Cannibals, Eugene combines sly humor with impressive technical chops that will fool you, until he explains it. In New Match Stickler, a Milbourne Christopher item usually thrown away as a bar stunt becomes a powerful mystery. More ominous themes are considered in Robert Neale's daring Last Dream. To conclude this encounter, Eugene
discusses the thinking that led to the creation of two of his most requested routines, which he also performs: The Inquisition, his wickedly dark take on Roy Walton's Card Warp, and Shakespearean Thread (or, as Max Maven insists on calling it, "Vishnu Doesn't Live Here Anymore"), an evocative new presentation for the Hindu Thread.
But there's more, because Eugene also offers special insights into artistic expression, performance philosophy, and the concepts and theories that transform magic into something deeply personal.

Magical Voyages Part Three: A Voyage to the Inner World is the final volume of a trilogy of the magic and philosophy of Eugene Burger. Like the previous volumes, this was composed and directed by Max Maven.
Like many others in magic, I consider Eugene to be one of our greatest living teachers. Spending time with him in person, in print or on video is time well spent.
On this disc, Eugene shares his philosophy on selecting magic, routining magic and his approach to making magic magical and truly special. In between, you learn four great effects with coins, cards and matches. Of the four, Sinology and the Last Dream have found their way into my performing repertoire.
Closing the volume, Eugene performs his classic version of Card Warp, the Inquisition, and Gypsy Thread, the Shakespeare Thread. These are not explained but never fear. Card Warp can be found in the Roy Walton manuscript and the Gypsy or Hindu Thread can be found in many places like Tarbell.
The DVD is perfect for the intermediate to experienced conjurer. My advice is to purchase the full set, but if you can only afford one, make it volume three. It feels like a personal conversation with Eugene as he shares his thoughts about the performance of close up magic.
Listen with heart and you will be on the road to creating a magical experience.
