Angels and Demons (Workers Edition)

Dead Rebel Magic is back with a new and dark take on the classic Out of This World!

Simon teaches you the classic 'Out of This World' card effect, where a spectator deals a deck into piles and somehow separates the reds from the blacks... but things are a bit different.

Angels and Demons includes a specially printed, full pack of picture cards - 26 heavenly angels, and 26 demonic devils. The art is spectacular, the cards great quality, and the storage tin (with a clever ambigram that reads 'Angels and Demons' either way up) make it a practical piece of bizarre magic/mentalism.

The cards can also be used most (if not all) variations of Out of This World, and other routines will occur too - perhaps a 'cutting the Aces' where the spectator chooses the only four Angels from a packet of Devils, or an Oil and Water where the Angels 'Rise Above' and the Demons are 'Down Below'...

Very limited stock of this gorgeous set.

Overview

Paul Curry’s Out of This World card routine is a classic of magic since its creation in 1942. There have been many versions of this effect and there also has been several decks created to enhance its denouement. Angels & Demons released by Dead Rebel Productions is a vintage style deck of cards for those looking for something out of the ordinary to perform this self-working miracle.

Effect

The main effect is that from a mixed up deck (as perceived by the participant) they are asked to separate the cards into two piles but do so while not seeing the faces of the cards and using only their intuition. When done, the cards are turned over and the participant successfully separated the cards perfectly into to separated piles of black and red cards (using a regular deck). In the case of Angels & Demons, the cards were sorted into two piles, and if the name of the deck Angels & Demons is any indication as to what the two piles are, you would be correct.

Method

The trick is actually a self-working masterpiece which success hinges on a couple of subtleties. The first is giving the impression that the cards are thoroughly mixed and the second is to logically displace a couple of cards without raising suspicion. Although the impression left is overwhelming, the trick can be performed by a card novice.

Product Quality

There is no indication as to where or which company prints the cards but the quality seems to be very good. The artwork is nicely done and faux aged look is subtle and attractive as well. The variation of the images on the faces of the cards generates a unique look to the deck as well. The deck comes in a nicely made tin box with the name Angels & Demons done in an ambigram. An ambigram is a font style that the words are the same when the box is turned 180º. The instructional video is 9 minutes long and teaches the basic handling for Out of This World. The video is straightforward and shot fairly well and easy to understand. Although the deck was designed specifically for the Out of This World effect, it would have been nice if other uses for the deck was offered such as an Oil and Water routine.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate. The deck was designed for this one effect and there are suggestions for others but not taught. Overall the quality of this offering is very good.
