(Based on 1 review)
The amazing transformation effect with a cute story and LOTS OF MAGIC created by Richard Pinner as part of his act that won 'The Magic Circle Close Up Magician of the Year 1999' New Faces & New Backs 25th Anniversary Deck. Language Free design Works Everywhere.

A group of children that you did a show for have made you a unique and special gift as a thank you. Wonderful though this is, it's not a lot of use for performing with.

So, using your special powers, you set about changing the deck into a more familiar and useful design. With the brand new deck, you demonstrate your skills with a little mind reading.

Wracked with guilt at ruining the young one's beautiful present you set about returning it to its former, if unconventional, glory.

The deck does all the work for you. It's rough & smooth, short & long and marked!

You just have to be there to sparkle during the trick and then take the credit at the end.

Overview

Kids’ Kards by Richard Pinner is a “one trick pony” type of deck that can trace its roots to The Discoverie of Witchcraft and Clever and Pleasant Inventions both printed in 1584. This type of deck was marketed by Burling Hull in 1909 and hasn’t changed much since then. Ultimately called the Svengali Deck, this type of deck has been the perennial favorite of magic hustlers for over a hundred years. Unfortunately, because the Svengali deck has been so over distributed, primarily in kids’ magic sets, it is largely ignored by the professional performer. Kids’ Kards is a unique and cute version of this time honored utility item which just might enticed even the most defiant professional into using it.

Effect

The performer brings out a deck of cards which is a collection of cards drawn and colored for him by his young magic students. He displays a deck of crudely drawn but colorful personalized playing cards. Each is different on the front and the back. Of course he says, as a professional he can’t perform with these and he takes one of the cards, rubs it on his sleeve and it changes into a modern playing card. He does the same to the back. With a wave of his hand he then shows each and every card changes to a regular deck, both front and back. Feeling a bit guilty he decides he really should bring the deck to its original appearance and once again the deck is back to its original form of crudely drawn and colored cards.

Method

The method uses two very old trick deck methods integrated into one. The performer is able to show the fronts and backs of all the cards but ultimately show the card has changed. The deck is specially treated and cut so each of the effects can transition from one phase to the other. Very little sleight of hand is needed and the ability to tell a compelling story is what will carry the weight of the effect.

Product Quality

The cards are very nicely designed and assembled. The deck comes as 26 pairs of cards and because the premise is hand drawn cards by kids, the fact that only 26 random images pass by, no one is looking for specific card values and any “missing” values would go unnoticed. The deck comes with the 26 preprinted images, a double blank for your own drawing, an instruction cards and an instructional video card. The instructional video is only about 4 minutes long visually covers the printed instructions.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate and this would be a nice card trick for the young children and families with younger kids.
