Overview
Concealed by Peter Eggink is a card to pocket effect. Like all Peter Eggink effects, it is based around gimmicks, gimmicks, gimmicks. All magic effects have their Achilles heel. If you don’t want to use sleight of hand, you must use gimmicks. If you want easy to learn, the trick more than likely be transparent. Concealed follows in that same path….no sleight of hand but you must walk around wired up like a telephone pole. Effect
The performer asks a spectator to pick a card. They do, and they are asked to sign it to make sure that they will be shown the same card. In virtually no time, the card disappears and is “pulled” from the performer’s “pocket”. Method
As stated before, the method requires you to utilize gimmicks to facilitate the magic. You are provided the raw materials to make yourself a human “pull”. The card is not a free choice but a prepared card. The method is clever and with what is provided, the card travels from the deck to a spot located behind you (not in your actual pocket as stated). By utilizing the natural movements of having the card signed, the card start its journey.Product Quality
The raw materials are simple but appear to be a decent quality. The instructional video is filmed well and presented at an easy going pace. In the 20 minute video, the origin of the trick is covered, the construction of the gimmick, placement on your person and the necessary moves and motions covered as well. The one negative about the video is that the screen cannot be expanded so you are watching the detailed construction of the gimmick in a small 3.5” x 4.5” format. It was very difficult to see the details.Ad Copy Integrity
The ad copy is nebulous at best. It is written from the spectators’ point of view and may give the purchaser the wrong impression. First, not any card can be chosen. The card is prepared and a new card must be prepared each time. The card does not end up in the pocket but located behind the performer. It states there are no pulls…this is partially true. It requires no mechanical pull but the performer is basically set up as a human pull. This is a bit misleading. The angles are terrible as well. This can only be performed with spectator directly in front of you. Even at a 45º angle there may be a flash of the card making its trip. If you are a bit heavy set, this trip will take a lot longer and probably be obvious as well. The final issue is that you have to plan to perform this. This cannot be done impromptu. With all the impediments that are associated with this effect, I would recommend that if you were afraid to palm, purchase a no palm card to wallet instead.
