Originally published in 5 separate comic books, Hocus Pocus is the hardbound edition of those previous releases. Each release has several stories dedicated to the genre of magic reflected in each volume. The genres are, Mind Reading, Séances, Ghosts, Prophesy and Levitation. As an added bonus the hardbound collection has extra content the original 5 single releases did not have. In the first issue there are interactive magic tricks as well.
The stories in each issue are based on fact and gives true to life details on the chosen subjects. For example, the first issue features the mind reader Washington Irving Bishop, parapsychologist J. B. Rhine and con man Alexander the Crystal Seer. In just a few short and entertaining pages I learned about three individuals I really knew nothing about. Who said comics are a waste of time?
The quality of the book is excellent. The design, coloration, page and print quality is bar none. The book has 179 pages and there is no filler, empty pages or large spaces between words and paragraphs. The book contains solid but easy reading from cover to cover. If you want to maintain your magic reading habit but your head needs to recoup, pick up a copy of Hocus Pocus and I hope like me, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
