Misdirections has survived for a long time thanks to the dedication of Joe Pon and his family. He packs a lot into the store and can get most anything you want. His mail order side is efficient. The store's website is constantly being updated with the newest magic (and videos). https://misdirections.com/
You never know who might be visiting the shop---often local and out-of-town professionals (check the photo gallery on the website). Magic careers have started and been mentored here.
Joe teaches the effect when you buy it and offers tips.
And he presents top lectures a few times a year (usually at Jay Alexander's Magic Theatre- https://www.sanfranciscomagictheater.com/).
Open every day except Monday, the hours vary so check them. This is a great neighborhood for eating, shopping and going across the street to Golden Gate Park for a hike or to visit one of the many museums, gardens or other offerings. And you can take public transit from downtown to within a block of the store.
What are you waiting for?
P.S. The San Francisco area is a hotbed of magic with at least nine active clubs and numerous regular magic performance venues.

Joe is an amazing an amazing proprietor and a wonderful brick and mortar shop. Located in San Francisco, misdirection magic has an amazing inventory. I have seen Joe talk people out of buying merchandise that was unsuited to their skill level. Great shop.

I love this place! Misdirections Magic Shop is the real deal. The last authentic magic shop remaining in San Francisco. The owner, Joe Pon, is friendly, knows his magic and does demos. He can also make good recommendations based on interest and skill level. I have even had Joe pass up the opportunity to sell me something when he realized that I wasn't quite ready for it yet... "Save your money and learn the 'Classic Pass' instead"... now that's integrity. The shop is compact but well-stocked. If you don’t see something, just ask Joe. You can also purchase online from him at http://misdirections.com/

Misdirections is a great shop. The owner is very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. It's not set up the best for browsing, so don't be shy about asking to see something or if you can't immediately spot what you're looking for. And, although they don't tout it, they give great mail order service. It's fast and has reasonable shipping rates. I live in Chicago, but if I can't get something locally (or just don't want to bother, frankly) Misdirections is the first place I turn.

Scott where is your review? I have paid one visit to Misdirections and I had a great experience. I picked up a book that I could not find here in Chicago. I thought they were well stocked, friendly and helpful. I give them 5 stars! I travel quite a bit and Misdirections is one of the very few magic shops I have been in that I would actually go back to again and again. Am I a pro? Sometimes. Other times I am just a magic geek looking for a cool place to shop.
