Overview

Three spectators choose a job identity, a piece of computer hardware and the recipient of an e-mail message all while the magician's back is turned. With no sleights or pumping, the Magician can immediately identify the profession of each spectator, reveal their chosen computer brand and finally prove that he had correctly predicted, in advance, who would receive the e-mail! Comes complete with all the specially printed cards and a unique "computer" carrying wallet which, although innocent in appearance, does all the work.

Effect

Three spectators are each given an "instruction" card to put in their pocket to be viewed later in the effect. Then they are given cards showing three different identities: a realtor, lawyer and magician. While the magician's back is turned, the spectators decide who will be which profession - this is totally a free choice amongst themselves. Once they know what profession they are, each spectator consults their instruction card which tells them what brand of computer is used at their profession's office. They each take the corresponding computer card, and pocket it. Finally the three spectators decide who will get the next e-mail. One of them picks up a "Mail" card from the table. With their computer cards, mail card, professions and instruction cards all hidden in their pockets, the magician turns back to face them.
He opens a small laptop computer - actually a vinyl card wallet but with a couple of printed cards inside that 'look like' a keyboard and screen! The magician then ‘mimes' punching a few keys on the laptop and then announces the profession of each spectator, which computer brand they use and finally reveals a correct prediction of who has the e-mail!

Method

The effect plays out as described above, it may be a bit long winded but am sure you get the idea of what happens. This is a Mentalism effect and all the choices your spectators make are truly free and random. You will accurately predict before any of the cards are taken from your spectators pockets what choices were previously made by each person. The cards do have a coding system which will allow you to pull of this feat of mentalism. Each time you present this, different outcomes will always occur depending on the choices your spectators make.

Product Quality

You will receive a normal black vinyl wallet with two clear pockets inside. This is the same type of wallet you have received many times with other packet tricks. Like the others, they will wear with over use but probably like me, you may have a few spares lying around. The cards you receive are printed on good semi-gloss stock and should last quite a while for many performances. The instructions are printed on four pages of 8.5” X 11 paper.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad says "The clever hidden principles have fooled all who have seen it! The great part is that you don't even need to know how to turn on a computer! Ment@net... "Self-Working "No Set-Up "No Memory Work "No Moves”. Well … yes and no! There is some set up you have to do before presenting this but once you have done it a few times you should be good to go. The part I have an issue with is the part that says no memory work. As mentioned, the cards have a coding system built in however there ARE a few things to do with the coding that to will have to learn and remember while you are presenting this effect. There will always be something and things you will have to remember and mentally keep track of each time you do this.

Final Thoughts

This is definitely a strolling effect, good also for table hopping and small parlor shows. Don’t be surprised that you may have to read the instructions over and over a few times, I did as I found it confusing.
All in all it is a very interesting and unique effect especially as it deals with computers, hardware and e-mail which we incorporate into our lives these days. Due to unclear instructions and the fact that there is memory on the performers part involved to perfectly pull this off each and every time contrary to what the ad says, I would rate this as moderately recommended.
