(Based on 1 review)
One of THE most recognizable magic props of all time just LEVELED UP for the 21st century... introducing ProCaps by Lloyd Barnes.

Known to most as Dynamic Coins or Nickels to Dimes... this classic "beginners" magic toy has remained an all time, global bestselling trick for 3 reasons:
  • Incredibly fooling.
  • Highly visual.
  • Extremely easy to do.
We think the reason more magicians don't perform it though... is because traditionally it looks like a "magic prop".

NOT ANYMORE.

Lloyd Barnes has taken this vintage trick and reimagined it for the modern day conjurer.

ProCaps was designed to replicate everyday bottle caps; this stealth-like set allows you to VANISH, TRANSFORM, APPEAR and TELEPORT stacks of coins with total ease, right under the spectator's noses.

Every detail was considered when developing the ProCaps gimmicks. Cross-continent research uncovered the most common bottle cap colors and logo designs to make Pro Caps inherently organic.

The intricate precision sizing allows for a one-size fits all design for both UK, USA and other similar sized coins (10p and Quarters respectively).

ProCaps comes with a red cap AND a blue cap so you can use both in performance - or choose to use either a "water" or "Coca Cola-styled" bottle.

The once named 'Bang Ring' has been organically reworked for ProCaps to look like the common plastic seal that's broken when fresh bottles are cracked opened.

Everything makes sense. Everything is copacetic.

If the ProCaps set alone wasn't enough; we've brought in Craig Petty (The Magic Cafe 2021 Creator of the Year) to teach you 11 brand new, NEVER BEFORE PUBLISHED routines (including multiple live and/or in studio performances) in an over 2 hours long in-depth, intricate explanation video.

With tricks designed for beginners as well as challenging professional level routines, ProCaps has something for everyone.

Whether you want a new way to vanish 4 coins as a finalé for your Matrix routine or want the perfect gift for a budding new magician... ProCaps is your answer.

They say "The classics are classics for a reason"... sometimes they just need a fresh new look.

This is ProCaps.

KEY FACTS:
  • Easy to do.
  • Little to no skill required.
  • Highly visual.
  • Time tested.
  • Organic objects.
INCLUDES:
  • 2 caps (red and blue).
  • Plastic seal "bang ring".
  • 11 never before published routines for all skill levels.

Overview

There are so many classic tricks that are not performed anymore, either because there doesn’t seem to be a sensible premise for today’s times or the props look out of place. Dynamic Coins, also known as Nickels to Dimes, is one of those mind bending tricks, which at one time was performed regularly but because the prop looks peculiar, most magicians shy away from performing it. In the day when snuff boxes and pill boxes were common, brass objects were not unusual, but today nobody carries brass cases. ProCaps by Lloyd Barnes, brings that old classic back in vogue with a modern look.

Effect

The performer places a stack of quarters on the table. He then places a bottle cap from a plastic soda bottle over the coins and waves his hand and snaps his fingers. To the astonishment of the spectators, the quarters completely disappear. This is the most basic trick you can do with the ProCaps set. However, for the more ambitious, there are several different performances you can do with the set depending on your performance style or skill set.

Method

The ProCaps set by Lloyd Barnes works like the old brass version of Dynamic Coins but are designed to look like the plastic caps which we see on all the disposable plastic drink bottles. Of course, they are gimmicked to make the magic happen and for the most part has all the requisite components. The gimmicks themselves are pretty much self working and only very basic sleight of hand is needed.

Product Quality

The caps themselves look similar to a soda bottle cap and would withstand a cursory glance. The “coin stack” insert is quarter size (10 pence in the UK) and is edge milled to make the stack look genuine. You would have to provide your own genuine coins to top the stack and naturally depending on where you live you would choose the appropriate coin. The bang ring to loosen the insert is designed to resemble the selvage ring left behind on the neck of the bottle when you unscrew the cap. The downloadable instructional video is comprised of four individual chapters totaling 2 hours and 20 minutes of live performance, sleight instruction and different handlings. The video is well shot and has excellent sound and video quality. It is truly an ambitious project for a simple trick.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate as stated and it is definitely an opportunity to perform a classic with a modern twist.

Final Thoughts

When you get your set, it may have to be tweaked a bit. I found dislodging the stack was pretty difficult and you may want to carefully sand the edge of the caps for an easier removal. In addition, there are two discrepancies which may bother some performers. The first is that you top coin will have an edge difference since coins are clad now. The second is that the bottom “coin” of the stack appears to be larger than the other coins. Unfortunately, this is needed for the stack to remain in place when desired. The final issue is that this can’t be performed on a close up pad. A hard table is needed to dislodge the stack.
