(Based on 2 reviews)
spRing is a long-forgotten puzzle that's been reworked into one of the most classic and iconic plots in magic - the linking rings.

Imagine being able to effortlessly melt a solid ring into the very coils of a tightly wound spring with a visually pleasing and buttery smooth penetration that's done without any help of the methods typically seen in the traditional linking rings.

In fact, there is nothing to ditch or hide, and you can hand out spRing immediately before, after, and even during your performance if you so choose.

spRing is incredibly easy to perform - it will take you minutes to understand the secret and only hours to master. It's also suitable for any type of performance and venue.

Here's what you get:2 high quality props45 minutes of expert instruction that includes a multi-phase routine and many alternative handlings to craft a performance suited for you.Peace of mind of knowing that you'll never have to hide any gaps or extra ringsspRing has not been made for everyday carry in mind but this is something you'll want to carry every day!

This is an enigma...
That's wrapped in a puzzle...
That's trapped in a spring...

Overview

We are living in a wonderful era in magic. Not only are we blessed with so much innovation due to technology and a deeper understanding of how the human mind thinks (or doesn’t) but we are also seeing creators who are looking at old, outdated magic with new eyes and catapulting these decades old classics into the 22nd century. spRING by Joonas Mengel is one of those time worn classics reinvented. Originally conceived in 1940, this trick called Ring and Coil, was basically more of a puzzle than magic. What Joonas Mengel has done with this puzzle was to develop a multi-phase routine that not only embodies the concepts of magic but takes this effect from a confusing, belittling challenge to an entertainment piece.

Effect

A ring and a spring is introduced by the performer. It is shown that the ring cannot be put on the spring very easily. However, with a little magic he then performs a solid through solid routine not unlike the linking rings. The spectators are also invited to participate and perform the magic themselves.

Method

This works purely through the physics of the spring, there is no sleight of hand as we know it. There needs to be an awareness however, of how to place the ring on the spring and how the physics of the spring does work. With very little effort, one can perform an entertaining piece of magic that not only will create smiles but not insult anyone’s intelligence either.

Product Quality

The ring and spring are designed to work together. The thickness of the ring and the space between the coils of the spring are critical for this type of routine to work. The props themselves are not overly attractive which adds to the effect. The rings and spring are not polished pieces of magic apparatus which would scream magic trick. Their ordinary appearance sublimely sends the message that these are ordinary objects. The downloadable instruction is very well done. There is 54 minutes of video which includes three live performances, some basic moves and routines. The video is well photographed and the sound and sets are excellent. Javier Fuernmeyer, Murphy’s Magic new spokesman, does an excellent job of explain and demonstrating the handling. There are multiple camera angles and close-ups when needed.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is exactly as stated. This is a classic reborn. Others have covered the ring and spring in the past but have never taken it to this level.

Suggestions

If you get excited over classic magic but do not have the time or imagination (as I don’t) to reinvent these pieces of wonder from the past, definitely give spRING a try. You can also look into The Ring and Spring by Magic Ian and Industrial Link by Richard Osterlind for other ideas as well.
