TRICOLOR DICE

Wayne Dobson

Alan Wong

(Based on 1 review)
Tricolor Dice is a fine five minute close up routine by Wayne Dobson features three small dice boxes and three colored dice that gives you a three- phase mindreading act under increasingly impossible conditions with a strong finish.

Despite the spectator makes all the choices of boxes, dice and all the mixing around, you are able to reveal which box the spectator has put the die in, and again with the boxes switched around, all with your back turned.

In the last phase, the spectator becomes the mind reader and as a kicker finish, they apparently have divined not only the color they have randomly chosen, also the number on top of the die they have randomly placed behind their back, and all color dice have matched the colors inside the three boxes.

Combining different clever principles in true Wayne Dobson style and professional presentation with detailed PDF instructions included.

Overview

Effect

The performer places three small black opaque boxes on the table, each containing a different colored die. The boxes are thoroughly mixed up by the participant several times. Under seemingly test conditions even though the lids are on each box the performer knows which die was taken and hidden, what number is facing up on each die and finally prophesizes that all the dice will be in their appropriate boxes in the end.

Method

Tricolor Dice by Wayne Dobson and produced in association with Alan Wong is an amalgam of various principle strung together to create a multi-phase routine that has a simple beginning and a kicker ending. The entire process utilizes methodologies well known in mentalism circles such as equivoque, Bob Hummer's three object divination and a commonly used peek method used for the age old Color Vision Box. Performed casually without rushing through each phase the performance should last about five minutes. A lot will depend on the performers ability to extract the moments of wonder since the trick itself is fairly procedural.

Product Quality

The props provided are extremely portable and seem to be fairly durable. The boxes themselves which are reminiscent of the small Gozinta boxes commonly sold are made of black opaque plastic. The lids have a new age type symbol printed on them which aid in the performance. The dice, one red, one white and one blue are 19 mm square and are of decent quality. The instructions come as a downloadable PDF and are fairly well written. I found only a couple of lines that were vaguely written and had to be reread a couple of times to understand them. There are 11 pages of fairly large type and 8 illustrations and photos for clarification. There is room for adjustment and as you read the instructions you will probably start to insert your own words or methods.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is very accurate and performed as instructed the end result will be very close to what is claimed.

Suggestions

I personally do not carry items that have a single use or odd looking props that have strange magical symbols on them. Mostly everything I would use is more organic. That being said, if you were to carry props such as these, I would figure out a way to utilize the same items for other routines. The boxes in Tricolor Dice are not large but since I consider pocket space is always at a premium I would figure out other ways to utilize these props and get more mileage for the space they would take up.
