Timeless Deluxe - Midnight Black

"Timeless" created a SENSATION when it was released in 2010; now it's back and better than ever: a more modern, attractive watch design and band, as well as new routines and improvements. "Timeless Deluxe" is as memorable as it is unique. This effect has been HIGHLY sought-after for years, and it has been performed successfully on America's Got Talent and Fool Us. The method is diabolical and simple; no electronics whatsoever are required. Better still, the effect can be learned instantly and requires no difficult moves at all. At the end of "Timeless Deluxe," everything is examinable.

EFFECT:

The performer brings up the topic of implanting ideas in someone's head. To demonstrate, the mentalist removes their watch and has a participant select a time by twisting the knob to move the hands around at random. The chosen time is remembered and the performer's watch is held between the participant's hands. The performer's head is genuinely turned away the entire time. Still, the performer can now discern the chosen time. Here's where it gets crazy: to prove that the time and the watch itself was an implanted idea, the mentalist asks the participant to look at the watch again. There are now NO HANDS AT ALL ON THE WATCH. The hands...are just gone.

Predicting a chosen time is one of the strongest, impromptu-seeming effects one can do; it plays in a theatre full of people or impromptu at a table among friends. What "Timeless Deluxe" offers is an ending nobody will ever forget: the vanishing of the hands of a watch.

Included in the package is the watch itself--an attractive time piece you'll be proud to wear. You also receive a special gimmick that accomplishes the method AND makes everything examinable at the end. The full video instruction and additional ideas are included in the package.

NOTE: the watch does not keep time and cannot replace a normal watch.

"Timeless Deluxe" is available in two styles: Midnight Black (black band with white watch face), and Patriot (red and blue striped).

I just love effects like this! You’re doing something crazy weird with an everyday object. And the plot, while odd, is easily explainable.

But what I love more is that it takes guts. This is one of those effects that many people, before trying it out, will say “no way… there’s no way they’ll fall for it.” In my experience, that’s one of the things that separates trick-collectors from people serious about creating truly magical moments.

The effect is straightforward and follows the product description and video. A participant spins the knob on your watch to arrive at a random time. The magician then divines the time. This could be in the form of a prediction or in real-time. Then, in a surreal twist, the participant finds that the watch, which has been in her hand the whole time, has no hands.

The method is basically self-working and everything you need is provided (though there is one “reusable” that may need to be replaced every now and then, but easily available). You’ll need a bit of audience management skills to get the most out of the effect, but it would be pretty hard to actually mess it up (or allow an audience member to do that for you).

Reset is quick and simple, though you’ll want to do it out of sight of your audience. If you’re working a restaurant or walk-around gig, a quick trip to a bathroom, or even an un-monitored part of the room will suffice.

You get to decide the predicted time, and it can change every time you perform the routine. Anyone who works parties will understand how important that detail can be!

While it’s certainly no Patek Philippe, the watch looks nice and clean… especially for the price. And even if you’re working a high-end audience who would notice such things, just wrap a good story around its provenance (this may be one of the few times the “grandpa’s watch” gambit may actually be appropriate).
