Overview
A spectator deals through the deck face up stopping on a card he feels good about. This card is instantly shown to be of a different color back from the rest of the deck and can even be marked indicating ‘you will pick this card’. The Spectator can even be given the card as a souvenir! You will really enjoy performing this one.Effect
As described and as seen in the video, the spectator has full control of what card they pick, there is no force, they can even change their mind. After displaying the backs of the rest of the deck, their chosen card is shown to be of a different color, the only one. It is very entertaining and can be repeated almost immediately to another group with another card chosen and successfully revealed. It can be presented as just another card effect or as a mental effect. You will really enjoy performing this one, I do! Method
The deck is not a ’special’ deck and if you can deal a deck of cards and display some cards, you can do this one with great ease. Perfect for beginners. Don’t be fooled by this comment, if you are a Pro, you will love this and you could fool other Magicians if you so desire to do so. It is very simple and easy to do, very clever. The are no slights involved, no difficult moves to learn. Once you understand what is going on, you will learn and be performing SLOB very quickly. Product Quality
You will receive a Bicycle deck of cards either red or blue and as it is Bicycle, you can assure yourself it is of good quality. Longevity? Just like any other Bicycle deck you own, it will last as long as the way you use it, take care of it and how often you perform with it.Ad Copy Integrity
The ad does not really say much but it does say - no wax, no rough and smooth, no flaps or fiddly bits, no sleight-of-hand. That for a fact is accurate and true. It does not say what you get - do you receive a gimmick, is it a ‘trick’ deck, is there any arts and crafts involved …? You do receive a regular deck of cards, nothing extra to buy, add or make, you are ready to go right out of the case. You will receive three pages of printed instructions as well as a link to the downloadable tutorial. The tutorial is very well done and it also covers what could happen and what you would do in that situation. Enough said about that.Final Thoughts
Before watching the video, I tried learning it from the printed instructions. Wrong. Mistake. As I received a red deck and the instructions were written for a blue deck it was very difficult to comprehend. Advise: just go the the video tutorial straight away. Once you understand what is going on, you can easily adapt it to whatever color deck you receive. This effect retails anywhere from $19.95 - $25.00 but my issue is that if this was sold or available as just a download maybe $9.95 (it is not a special deck) you could make up your own and it would be much more economical. It is an amazing effect but due to this last point, rating it is not easy. Rating it on the basis of the effect itself it is a 5 star. Rating it that it is overpriced for what you physically get (a normal deck) I give it a 3 star. So that being the case, I give it a 4 star. Still, highly recommended.Suggestions
Great for strolling in a restaurant, bar or reception as long as you have access to a table or flat surface to perform this one. Small parlor show is fine too. As this is done with a regular deck of cards, you could make your own with jumbo cards for stage performances.
