"The best trick I've seen at Blackpool... Superb!"
- Jeff McBride 2016

Alakazam Magic is proud to present Dave Loosley's killer three phase transposition effect, straight from his working set.

Inflexion is an easy to perform visual transposition between two playing cards.

The spectator experiences ultra-visual magic as they witness the precise moment that a playing card changes place with the one inside their own hand.

Inflexion comes supplied with a full in-depth training DVD and two custom made gimmicks created by Dave Loosley and manufactured by master card engineer Rob Bromley.

Inflexion is a Dave Loosley and Alakazam Magic card transposition trick that has the potential to bring a card transposition routine to a new level using a super cool gimmick.

With Inflexion you get a 46 minute DVD taught by Loosley and Peter Nardi, two Inflexion gimmicks and a gimmick holder. The instruction is well taught by Loosley and the trick is solid. The change is extremely visual and happens in front of the spectator’s eyes. The card is folded in an unusual way that allows the spectators to see what the card is by revealing the corner pip. Specifically, the card is folded in half so you can only see the back and the corner is folded back so you can see the corner pip, which is in the center of the fold. Although this is a necessary part of the trick, the corner fold is a bit unusual and may be off putting for some.

In an instant the card changes and it is really super cool to see. You can literally put some significant wear on your gimmick playing with it and fooling yourself before demonstrating to spectators because it is fun and addicting to play with.

With that being said, there will be a lifespan to the gimmick, which I am not certain about since I have only had it for less than a month. But, if your gimmick ceases to function perfectly, you are provided with a second gimmick. The gimmick are very clever and very well made.

Unfortunately there are no live demos, which would have been interesting to see. Instead, Loosley performs and teaches the trick to Nardi in a studio setting.

When performing this trick you will be using two folded over card. The cards get folded so that they have a crease and cannot be returned to a deck for future use. Some of the routines taught require folding (ruining) a card every time you perform.

Because the gimmick is somewhat hidden in plain sight, you need to be careful about how you display the card and the angles which it is looked at by the spectators. I would avoid very bright lighting although practice and presentation will eliminate the risk of exposure. Additionally, there is a noise that is noticeable in quiet settings, but that can easily be disguised by snapping your fingers when doing the magical switch. You can hand out the cards for inspection after some quick and easy clean up. The cards cannot be handled before the reveal or clean up. this gimmick can be used with many Bicycle or Phoenix cards.

The reset takes a second and can be done in front of spectators since “resetting” the trick is part of the method.

The ad copy and promotional video are accurate and will give you a good glimpse at what the effect looks like.

Loosley encourages you to register your product on the Alakazam website and provides that secret passcode in the event that new handlings are uploaded. However, as of the writing of this review, when I went to register the product, the code provided did not work and I was unable to register my copy of Inflexion.

With the limitations described above, I recommend this trick.
