Overview
The first thing you will learn with At the Table Live Lecture Spidey is that Spidey is an exceptionally nice guy. He is quick witted, always smiling, very flexible and incredibly affable. In addition, he is talented and a great thinker.
There is no question as to why he is successful. He bubbles with enthusiasm as he explains his works. This is one lecture you would enjoy watching.
Effect
At the Table lectures are three hour lectures, structured like a session between the host which is Gregory Wilson and the featured lecturer which in this case is Spidey. Spidey is known for his mentalism but is also an accomplished card magician as well. This lecture features a mix of both. The first half is dominated by card magic featuring a Stick Man type card trick and a mental magic revelation type effect using double blank cards. The second half of the lecture was dominated by three impromptu mentalism routines which you can perform on the spur of the moment with just pieces of paper and magazines. The final piece you will need two types of envelopes.Method
The methods involved are not out of range for the average performer. A double lift and a simple cull is the most difficult sleights you will have to use. As far as the mentalism goes, basic mentalism principles are in play and some simple math will be needed for one of the effects. The most difficult part is not the handlings but making everything seem natural. Spidey interject to routines with some cold reading techniques that make the presentation more real. This is something that one will have to practice because it is based on the individual you are working with at the moment.Product Quality
As many of these lectures are, they are situated around a table and the photography and lighting are adequate. There is always the pitfall of the host dominating too much of the conversation and Gregory Wilson does have a tendency to do that. In this lecture however, Spidey seems to be able to plod through the interruptions, accept them and move on quickly. Ad Copy Integrity
The ad copy for these lectures never really say much as to what lecturers are going to show but only list their professional accomplishments. However, I will say that this particular lecture is well worth watching. I cannot see anyone watching this and not walking away with less than three or four effects to try out.Final Thoughts
I highly recommend this lecture, not just for some solid routines but also for an insight as to how a professional truly behaves and interacts with his audience.
