Overview

EVP by Alan Rorrison is an effect where you seemingly record Electronic Voice Phenomenon from the spirit world. With everything going right, this would be a phenomenal (pun intended) effect. I had high hopes for this one especially for the asking price. There are some very nice attributes to this offering and there is one downside, so let’s get into it.

Effect

You approach a spectator or spectators and strike up a conversation of spirits and the spirit world. You nonchalantly mention EVP and how it is possible to record responses from the other side. You take the spectators phone (you read that correctly) and place it in voice memo mode. You reach out to the spirit world and ask the spirit you contacted some questions.
When the recording s played back not only will you hear the questions asked but responses from the spirit world as well. A very nice effect.

Method

The method entails the use of a special microphone setup and pre-recorded responses placed on your phone. Your phone is never visible as it is remotely activated by a hidden switch. The frequency of the microphone makes it inaudible to the outside but can project to the spectator’s phone. It is a very clever setup.

Product Quality

The components provided appear to be of decent quality. The instructional download is very well done. It takes you through the entire process from start to finish for both I-phones and Android Phones. I am not technically oriented and if I was able to accomplish this process just about anybody can. The main instructional video is a little over an hour and leads you from recording the responses on your computer to transferring the files to your phone and finally playing them back on the spectator’s phone. I repeat, if I was able to do it, I think most people can too. There is a second video which teaches you how to make files without a computer utilizing just your phone.

Ad Copy Integrity

The ad copy is accurate. Everything they claim is true with one big caveat. The issue I have is consistency. It took me and my son several tries to get the responses on to the second phone. From what we ascertained, the conditions have to be ideal for this to work. The ambient noise and how the spectator’s phone is held in the hand were big factors in transferring the sound.

Final Thoughts

This could be a great effect if the consistency was better. For what this item sells for, I would want it to work 100% of the time and I don’t think it will. I would have rated this one much higher if I felt the item was infallible. Purchase at your own risk and if you do cross your fingers every time you use it.
