Security Lock T-260

Tenyo

(Based on 2 reviews)
Impossible to remove!
Created by Lubor Fiedler

A spectator inserts a credit card into a case by himself. The instant the magician makes a magic wave over the case, the spectator is now unable to remove the card! When the magician takes back the case, he is able to slide out the card with no difficulty. This is the latest release from genius creator Lubor Fiedler! The props look and feel absolutely ungimmicked, yet allow you to perform this engaging and baffling magic effect with ease.

With Tenyo's Security Lock you get two plastic Tenyo credit cards, two plastic green credit card envelope/sleeves (one is gimmicked the other is not) and a small special padlock. In this effect, you show that the Tenyo credit card can slide into and out of the credit card holder with ease. You explain that you are protected against credit card fraud by locking the credit card in the sleeve with the padlock. This is possible because there is a hole in the credit card and also the sleeve, which lines up once the card is in the holder. But, you explain that this process is cumbersome as you take off the padlock. You indicate that you are able to lock the credit card in the sleeve by merely waving the lock over the envelope -- when the card is not locked with the padlock. Then you hand the card in sleeve to a spectator and instruct them how to hold it and how to position the card. Then in proper position, they try to remove the unpadlocked card from the sleeve and they can't -- it is stuck in place as if it were locked.

For me, the instructions to the spectator presented a problem. First, if the card is not held in the position they were instructed to hold it, the secret could be revealed. Since this is a gag that will frustrate a spectator, they will likely turn and rotate the card. You need to be very careful with the spectator and control their handling. My initial impression of this trick was not a good one, but it improved once I tested it out on a few live spectators. The audience that got my test runs seemed to really enjoy this gimmick and were amused and laughed. It is not a great magical moment, but more like a funny gag. I do note that in pre-performance practice I was able to remove the card when I should not have been able to -- but after about a dozen performances not one spectator was able to foil the trick.

I didn't like this as much as the audience did, but it seemed to strike a chord with them. If not for the reactions, I would have given this a much lower rating.

There is second alternative routine with the ungimmicked sleeve in which the apparently padlocked credit card is able to slip out of the sleeve, which I do not think is worthwhile due to the manner in which the sleeve and lock need to be held.

The instructions in English are a password protected downloadable PDF from the Tenyo website. They are easy to follow.

This is not the best Tenyo product out there, but is also not the worst.

Out of the 4 2015 Tenyo range this one is my favourite.
Although I have yet to try it on an audience I think that this could be a winner.
You actually get 2 tricks for the price of one.
It's the sort of trick that you do and put away in you pocket.
It's not earth shattering but very clever all the same.
When you get it you will be (like I was) astounded how simple the secret is but yet so ingeniously clever.
There is nothing to go wrong and is one that you can carry around with you at all times and it's ready to go.
For under $20 it's well worth getting
