Would we go all that way for something mediocre? You bet not.
We filmed four projects over there, amidst an avalanche of croissants, excellent coffee, and checking out good looking french women. We rented a studio and lived at the studio while we were filming. Our view was of Notre Dame about a block away, and the Eiffel T in the distance.
How much fun it was discussing and working on these effects with our wonderful French counterparts. You realize they have some superb workers over there don't you?
But best of all, we filmed SMILEY. And smile we did. We all love this trick and we think it will become a classic of sorts. You NEED fast, clean working effects that you can bust out anytime. This one works like a CHARM.
The gimmick takes time and care to build, but WE build it FOR you, and we wanted to give you TWO just to be sure. But a single gimmick will last hundreds and hundreds of performances.

This is a unique effect where the ink from one playing card jumps to another. I like the effect but I'm not crazy for the method.
In the package you will receive a DVD with 2 gimmicks. The gimmicks are high quality but they will need to be replaced after some time. They are completely customizable so that you can draw anything on the card that will fit in the small circle you'd like. I personally have used my initials.
The DVD gives a ton of ways to use the gimmick for things such as penetrations, transpositions and there's even a way to make the ink jump to your arm. Eric Jones explains the trick while Laurent demonstrates. They do this because Mikelfield doesn't speak English perfectly. I didn't think it was distracting at all, it actually made everything very clear.
I don't love this trick because of the gimmick. It is just a little fragile and not completely invisible. There are some problems with the way it works from time to time. I think the best use for this would be during a demo reel or something else on tape.
