The Stolen Cards
Green Lennart; De Matos, Luis
Essential Magic Collection
You take two of the cards and place them face-down on the table. The spectator chooses two more cards. The first surprise is that the two chosen cards match your predictions. The second surprise is that not only do the faces match, so do the backs. The third surprise is a real kicker. Every other card in the deck is identical except for the two cards chosen by the spectator. The Stolen Cards comes with a special deck and is completely self-working.

You know what they say . . . presentation is Everything! The master of messy and controller of chaos, Lennart Green, has proven this testament true. The Stolen Cards effect is very similar in plot to Kaleidoscope Cards and other like effects. My own Jacked Up is even in the same family. Green has brought nothing new to the method. However, his premise that the cards are stolen cards he's collected is a novel approach I've not seen before. Additionally, he has some very subtle tips and ideas for the presentation and the demonstration of the cards that are very clever and really add to the effect.
If you happen to own a Kaleidoscope Cards deck, you have everything needed to do Green's complete routine with it. His deck is no different in concept or construction. However, the cards you get with Green's effect are better looking and are poker sized rather than bridge - Kaleidoscope Cards are bridge sized. However, keep in mind that if you are going to do his routine, you need to pay for his deck (i.e., this product) before using it. If you don't own it, you don't have the right to use his routine.
As for the product itself, the deck is well made, the DVD well shot and the method well-explained. Not much to this one. If you like the effect, you'll be very happy with your purchase. Additionally you get a cool collection of cards. As I mentioned, presentation is everything, and that's the real gem you're getting with this purchase, a very clever couple of subtleties and a great justification or story for the cards . . . plus of course the deck. This is hard not to recommend . . . Lennart Green + a cool deck of cards + a logical story line + a couple of subtleties + I'm out of things to say . . .
Final Verdict:
4.5 Stars with a Stone Status of Gem.
