The Trilby Deck
Montier, Liam
Big Blind Media
Imagine a deck that is a...
Svengali Pack - but improved. New displays, fair fans and spreads. Within the action of a single cut, separate the deck into key cards and regular cards. No need to rotate the deck before flicking through to show a change. Learn the handling, and then learn KILLER tricks and applications.
Stripper Pack - but improved. Forget the classic 'hindu shuffle' style handlings - this works with the much more natural overhand style. Learn how to use the Stripper pack to your maximum advantage - even having a spectator remove and replace a card while the deck is held by somebody else! Learn the handlings and KILLER applications, including a self working and dynamite version of the classic 'Play it Straight' Triumph by John Bannon.
Colour Changing Pack - but improved! Brainwave effects, full routines and more. Start with a red deck, turn half blue. Cause the halves to transpose, then all turn blue. Then have the pack examined.
First published by Joe Stuthard in 1949, the Trilby Pack has been lurking in the Kaymar Magic vaults for more than half a century. Now, Liam Montier takes you through this ultimate gaff deck system in extensive detail, bringing you the tools to forge your own unique and truly astonishing Trilby Deck routine.
Proudly presented by Big Blind Media, Kaymar Magic, and Liam Montier.
CONTAINS 2 DECKS OF SPECIAL BICYCLE CARDS & FULL LENGTH DVD!

This is one of the coolest things I've reviewed this year. The Trilby Deck is a lethal combination of several different principles in gaffed cards that will fool magicians and laymen alike.
If you're not familiar with this excellent tool, you're in for a real treat. Watch the demo video, however, I don't think it does it the justice it deserves. For $40 bucks, you get two full decks of cards that are needed to "make" the Trilby "system."
You also get an exhaustive examination of the effects possible and the inner workings of the deck and so much more. Liam Montier, our lovely host, has a knack for taking what has the potential to be very boring and teach it in a way that is easy to learn, easy to absorb, entertaining and far from boring.
There are so many things on this DVD that it's hard to single out any one in particular. You won't be able to do every effect on the DVD in one set due to the nature of the deck. You have to sort of choose which principles you'll be using and set the deck up ahead of time. Don't let that scare you off, however. Even if you don't like gaffed decks (which I can appreciate), this one is worthy of your time and money.
If you already use a Stripper Deck, Svengali or have a Color Changing Deck routine, you'd be doing yourself a favor to check out the advantages of this system. You can handle the Svengali nature of this deck in a way that you could never handle a standard Svengali deck . . . fans and displays that could not be done without revealing the gaff in a standard Svengali.
Read the ad copy. It's 100% accurate. Add to that the production quality that is Big Blind Media . . . how can you go wrong?
Final Verdict:
5 Stars with a Stone Status of GEM!

First I want to say how happy I am that the lineage of this idea is covered, first thing, on the DVD and that the people producing this have the rights to do so. There are too many "new" ideas popping up today that are actually old ideas sans proper research and crediting.
The product description really tells you what you're getting. You've got two decks' worth of cards that can be arranged to be either a Svengali pack, a Stripper pack or a color changing deck. Needless to say, this is an amazingly versatile combination.
You'll notice the "but improved" segments of the description. This is not just marketing hype. The way the cards are cut opens up a whole new world of possible moves. In fact, there are quite a few "displays" taught on the DVD that I had never seen before, some of which are only possible with this deck.
The DVD covers everything you need to get started: moves, displays, effects and methods of swapping out various banks of gaffed cards. Of course, you can do any routine that uses a standard Svengali or Stripper pack. The routines taught on the DVD are quite strong, as well. You'll find something for anyone: prediction effects, ACAAN, ace cutting, Triumph, color changing deck, etc.
In only had one, minor problem with the product. The condition of the decks, as they come in the box, does not match what is shown on the DVD. This could be very confusing (at least it was to me). It took me several times of watching the DVD to figure out how it all worked. If you get this and have the same problem, I suggest separating out cards of the same type based on the back color and value of the card. Half of the complete pack (a random set) is mixed in with the 26 one-way cards to create a Svengali setup. Once you get that, everything else should become clear.I'm always on the lookout for old, obscure ideas. Once I find them, I tend to work them to death and mostly keep them to myself. With that in mind, I have a dilemma. This is an excellent old idea that has resurfaced. In that respect, I'm excited. But now I have to tell you how cool it is, which means I can't really keep it to myself. I hope you're happy! :-)
