This a quick little one-trick DVD. We get a lot these for review and many of them aren't worth the price of a bad coaster, and poorly produced to boot. Because of this, I've become very cynical about the whole one-trick DVD thing. Freak 2.0 is a pleasant exception. I thought for sure that the Buck twins had finally run aground with this one, but no. The ad copy fairly tells you exactly what you'll be getting, the product is fairly priced at $15, the DVD is very well-produced, and the material gets the reactions promised. What more could you ask for?

Freak 2.0 is a re-release of Freak, originally produced by Andi Gladwin and Monster Creations. Freak 2.0 is the same material but re-filmed and produced by Dan and Dave Buck. Freak is a quick four phase routine where you demonstrate the ability to contort your pink finger in ways that appear both quite painful and strangely unnatural. Freaky, if you will. You can watch a nice demonstration of the effect here at Dan and Dave's website. You can buy it there too.

The advertising copy is spot on. The effect is easy to learn and after a few minutes of practice I was performing it and getting exactly the results that were advertised, a minor to major freak out. How often have you bought a magic trick that could deliver that? Is it worth $15 to be able to freak people out anywhere, anytime? I think it is, but be careful with your new power as it can be addicting. If you're not careful you just might become known as that person with the weird finger.
