Warning: This is not for everybody. I know there is a large number of people who think effects like this should not be performed. If you aren’t the least bit interested in swallowing a quarter then cutting it out of your arm, then stop reading now. If this does sound like your cup of blood, then read on.

When I was a teenager, I went through a geek magic phase. I did needle in arm, blockhead, and other gross effects. I’ve got to admit though, this effect takes the cake.
You borrow a quarter, it’s marked, and you swallow it. You then cut your arm open. Blood flows. The quarter then emerges from your skin.
It looks real. It looks like magic. It looks sick.
Sean Fields walks you through every aspect of this effect. He talks in depth about knives, stage blood, gimmicks, audience types, everything. He’s obviously performed this effect for the right kind of audience many times. Obviously this is not a restaurant effect. I don’t think this should be done in the hallway at school either. It’s perfect for the punk rock club, late night party, or hardcore Halloween attraction a small number of magicians work.
Sean shows you how to make your own fake blood, and ‘blood delivery’ gimmicks. He even shows you how to flavor the blood if you want to lick the blade at the end! There is one gimmick you will need to buy from a magic shop if you don’t already own it, but it’s a low priced gimmick, and pretty much every magician has one in their drawer already.
Once you are ‘prepared’ to do the effect, you are somewhat limited. You can’t do all your card work and coin work right before you perform this, but you probably shouldn’t anyway. This is something that should be a stand alone effect. Nothing before it, nothing after.
From a methodological standpoint, this piece is absolute genius. I’m never going to do this effect, but seeing the thought that went into this effect was interesting and educational.
This product is everything it claims to be and more. The DVD is well produced, well shot, and well edited. Sean also gives a mini lecture at the beginning about how magicians can go for a reaction other than laughter and applause. If you agree, and want to really freak out your audience, this is for you.
