Food for Thought

Knight, Devin

Illusion Concepts

(Based on 2 reviews)
The performer shows a menu card from a restaurant listing various foods. Anyone is invited to come forth and secretly write the name of any food from the menu on a blank index card and drop it face down on a plate.

NO FORCES OR RESTRICTIONS. The performer says the special of the day at the restaurant is two for the price of one. To get the special the performer has to order the same item. Performer than secretly writes down his choice from the menu on another index card and drops it on another plate. Once this has been done the performer and participant exchange plates and both show the audience the name of the food written on the index cards. Amazingly, the performer and participant both chose the same food! As a final Kicker the performer shows that he PREDICTED the food the participant would choose.

No carbons used or secret impression devices of any kind. The person is only give one stiff card to write on. Baffling beyond words. This effect fooled almost everyone who saw it at Devin's Lecture.

Complete with menu card and the needed gimmick. Comes with full directions and bonus effect where the performer shows he predicted the food that would be chosen.

Here are what the pros are saying after seeing this:

"FOOD FOR THOUGHT, will not only give you nourishing FOOD FOR THOUGHT, it will FOOL you-as it did me! It epitomizes the Kismif principle: Keep it simple, make it fun."
- Jon Racherbaumer

"One of the effects I greatly enjoyed at the Las Vegas Mindvention was Devin Knight's "FOOD FOR THOUGHT." Clever stuff. Good entertainment."
- Larry Becker

I really didn’t know what to expect with Food for Thought and it fooled me probably as much as it will your spectators. Great for parlor or stage shows and as it says in the promo " no stooges, no preshow work, no forces, never a chance that it will not work” and that is absolutely true. What, this effect is exactly as it is advertised? What a concept!

The principle is crazy simple, nothing to memorize, nothing to make, no strange or awkward moves and no slights as it is almost self-working You now can spend all your time perfecting your patter and presentation to suit your personality and style of performance. No, it will not always be the same outcome as your audience member really does have a free choice to pick the food item they want - remember -NO forces. There is also a prediction aspect to this effect that was not shown in the video that just adds more of a surprise for your spectator and audience, it’s a real shocker.

The clear and concise instructions included are printed on 9 pages double-sided 8.5” X 11” which are VERY explicit and covers all and any situations that may arise. Some of you may be thinking “What, no video instructions” as I did but trust me, you won’t need it. What you see in the promo video is all you will need, the instructions will satisfy all the rest.

It is truly mystifying and diabolical leaving your audiences perplexed, this is a must have if you are looking for something a little different to add to your show. I personally do a comedy magic show and it didn’t take me long to figure out how to add a lots of extra fun and laughs to this mentalism/prediction effect. Go buy it, you will be glad you did.

Devin Knight’s Food for thought is a fun, fun idea. You will laugh when you see the very slick method that although similar to other ideas in print, is framed and performed in a very unique way. I would have never thought of this.

Devin gives you a very nice script . It has many jokes (some corny), logical premise, and a few twists. I liked it. I think this is one of my favorite effects of his. It is so simple and yet very versatile. The props are easy to work with and logical for the effect.

This is one of those effects that you can do almost right out of the package. However, with some critical thinking and matching a premise to your show, you could have a real stand-out here.

It’s fun and entertaining…what more could you want?
