Erazer

This is one trick you will want to get your hands on.

Adrian Gower has taken the Brainwave effect to new and exciting limits.

Effect:- A card is named by your spectator. A blue backed deck is spread between your hands The named card is seen to be the only card that is face-up. The named card is now turned over to show it has a red coloured backed! Now to prove you knew this card was going to be selected you show all of the other cards to be blank!

This is a fantastic, easy to do effect with an amazing triple kick!

It's true: so many great effects have been killed by "improvements". So when I received this "new version of Brainwave" I was ready for the worst.

Part of the problem is that Eugene Burger is one of my best friends. After seeing him perform his own Thought Sender and Max Maven's B'Wave so many times, I've come to believe that there's simply no more room for improvement on this plot.

After learning Erazer, I still feel the same. But that doesn't mean I don't think this is a good trick.

Luckily, the part of this trick that really sucks can be easily remedied: the equivoque. It's bad-- really, really bad. If you buy this, pick up a copy of Phil Goldstein's Verbal Control or Eugene's new Chicago Tapes to learn how to handle this part of the routine correctly.

I will say that the method is very clever and I do think it will fool your audiences. The handling is straightforward and clean. It's almost a self-working as the original Brainwave. What it really lacks, though, is a presentation. What makes the effects by Eugene and Max so powerful is that they've spent the many, many hours performing this and honing the scripts to a fine polish.

If you're looking for a hot, new version of the Brainwave effect, try this out and post your own review. I'm obviously biased to other methods, but I still think this is a good trick.

One last comment: there's one gimmicked card that will need some care and feeding over time. Unfortunately, there are no instructions on how to do this. Hopefully we'll be able to contact the publishers for some tips on this.
